A Section J report or Section J compliance report is a building code compliance document that demonstrates how a Class 2–9 building (commercial, industrial, apartments/common areas, etc.) meets the energy efficiency requirements in Section J of NCC/BCA Volume One.
The most common way to meet the requirements is through a DtS pathway.
The Section J report addresses;
- Building fabric / envelope (roof, walls, glazing, insulation, thermal breaks)
- Air sealing / building sealing
- HVAC and ventilation controls
- Lighting power density and lighting controls
- Hot water
- Energy monitoring / EV charging / PV readiness
Section J was introduced in BCA 2005 and we have been helping builders and designers since.
